Israel claims its ground troops have entered southern Lebanon, but Hezbollah denies they have crossed into the territory. Prime Minister Najib Mikati says Lebanon faces “one of the most dangerous phases of its history.”
Israeli military’s spokesman Daniel Hagari says forces have been carrying out raids into southern Lebanon for months, uncovering Hezbollah tunnels and weapon caches under homes and uncovering invasion plans by the group. Hagari also said the details were being declassified hours after Israel announced a ground operation against the Hezbollah movement in southern Lebanon.
Israeli Spokesman says that the findings and evidence discovered under homes in villages in southern Lebanon during the raids will be presented to the international community.
China is among other countries that have denounced “infringements on Lebanon’s sovereignty” after Israel said it launched a ground offensive against its neighbor. “China … opposes infringements on Lebanon’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, and opposes any actions that exacerbate conflicts and lead to a further escalation of the regional situation,” a foreign ministry statement said.
This isn’t the first time Israel has tried to put boots on the ground in Lebanon. In July of 2006, in a month-long fierce battle which ended with a lot of loss of life. It was hard for the Israeli army to beat Hezbollah because they were able to ambush them at every corner and every turn.
This time, Netanyahu says that they are not there to harm the people of Lebanon; instead, they are there to hunt down Hezbollah, which is a terrorist organization.
So, who are these Hezbollah fighters? Hezbollah was established to fight the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon. It adopted the model set out by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini after the Iranian Revolution in 1979.
In August 2008, Lebanon’s new cabinet unanimously approved a policy statement that recognized Hezbollah as an armed organization and guaranteed its right to “liberate or recover occupied lands” such as the Shebaa Farms.
In the 2018 Lebanese general election, Hezbollah held 12 seats, and its alliance won the election by gaining 70 out of 128 seats in the Lebanese Parliament. Hezbollah is a critical player in today’s Lebanese political system. Only we are not allowed to admit and openly say that because we are supposed to believe that they are terrorists and not politicians because that is what the West wants us to think and speak.
As far as approving the tactics that Hezbollah employs to get their way, they are just as guilty as any other government and politicians. We should be able to judge all of these governments, organizations, and countries for their crimes. However, no one should be allowed to kill innocent people in the name of rooting out “terrorists.”
While Israel’s war on Lebanon and the Palestinians, whether in Gaza or the Westbank, is nothing new, the Houthis in Yemen have been facing the same fate as Lebanon by Israelis with the support of its Western allies. Both Hezbollah and the Houthis have enjoyed support from Iran in the wake of Israel’s attack on their sovereign lands without being provoked. This fact can easily be proven; however, they are labeled as dangerous when they acquire help from an ally. Iran has done nothing to harm them, so why should they not get help from there? How Israel and the U.S. feel about Iran should be irrelevant, just as how the rest of the world thinks about Israel has been irrelevant, and Israel has gone on to acquire support from the U.S. and U.K. to bomb and maim an already oppressed people.
The Houthis, also known as Ansar Allah (supporters of God), are an armed group that controls most parts of Yemen, including the capital, Sanaa. The Houthis emerged in the 1990s but rose to prominence in 2014 when they rebelled against Yemen’s government, forcing it to step down.
The Houthis have been a part of Yemen’s government since then. Since the October 7th attacks and the retaliations by the Israeli government on Gaza, the Houthis have been stopping shipments of weapons coming through the Red Sea headed toward Palestine. Yemen has been paying heavily for doing this. Israel and its allies have been bombing Yemen and the Houthis relentlessly; Houthi chief negotiator and spokesperson Mohammed Abdulsalam told Al Jazeera in December of last year, “We have emphasized to everyone that [the Houthi] operations are to support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and that we cannot stand idly by in the face of the aggression and siege.”
This is what all of this boils down to; if we are going to judge all of these governments and military operations, then yes, they have all committed war crimes. They all need to answer for the innocent lives that they have taken and other illegal activities that have taken place.
The question remains: why are governments such as the U.S. and the U.K., and especially Israel, exempt from such lists? I wonder what the difference is between Hezbollah and Israel. Hezbollah came into being because Israel attacked Lebanon, so why is Hezbollah a recognized terrorist organization, and why isn’t a military organization that has killed more children than any war in history considered a terrorist organization?
Israel is bombing Lebanon.
Israel is bombing Yemen.
Israel is bombing Gaza.
Israel is Bombing the Westbank.
Israel is bombing Iran.
Hezbollah are terrorists for defending their land.
Houthis are terrorists for defending their land.
Hamas are terrorists for defending their land.
Iran is a terrorist for defending and helping its allies.
Israel is not a terrorist state for bombing innocent civilians and children for defending their land and asking its allies to help.
Israel’s allies are not terrorists for helping Israel defend itself by bombing all these countries and killing civilians indiscriminately.
We are being told that it is self-defense if you are committing crimes with white skin and blue/green eyes. The same crimes or actual self-defense with any other skin color or eye color is terrorism.
Also, the religion should be noted, and the regions on the map should be focused on.
